Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
These Terms of Service govern use of the Marine Conservation Credits demonstration platform during programme pre-launch. They reflect the commercial framework MCC intends to operate under. A versioned update will be published before commercial operations commence; registered users will be notified of any material change with reasonable notice.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Marine Conservation Credits (“MCC”) platform at marineconservationcredits.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not access or use our platform. These terms apply to all visitors, registered users, project developers, reviewers, and any other persons accessing the platform.
2. Description of Services
MCC is a digital infrastructure platform for ocean-based environmental credits. Our services include project intake and assessment tools, science-based methodologies for marine carbon and conservation credits, AI-supported monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV), independent review and governance processes, credit issuance and registry services, and marketplace access for credit transactions. MCC provides the institutional and digital framework needed to make ocean-based conservation projects credible, measurable, and investable.
3. User Accounts
To access certain features of the platform, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration, and to update your information as necessary. MCC reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
4. Project Submissions
Project developers submitting projects to the MCC platform represent and warrant that all information provided is accurate, complete, and not misleading. Submissions are subject to MCC’s assessment and verification processes, including AI-supported review and independent human evaluation. MCC reserves the right to reject, request modifications to, or revoke approval of any project that does not meet our standards or methodological requirements.
5. Credit Issuance and Registry
Credits issued through the MCC platform (including MCC-CC, MCC-MCU, and MCC-HYB credits) are recorded on the MCC registry. Each credit represents a verified unit of environmental impact as defined by the applicable MCC methodology. Credits are subject to the rules and procedures of the MCC registry, including requirements for retirement, transfer, and cancellation. MCC does not guarantee the market value of any credits issued.
6. Intellectual Property
All content, methodologies, software, designs, logos, and other intellectual property on the MCC platform are owned by or licensed to MCC and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any MCC content without prior written consent, except as explicitly permitted for platform use.
7. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to: submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information; attempt to manipulate or interfere with the platform’s verification or review processes; use the platform for any unlawful purpose; attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the platform; resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit platform access without authorization; or engage in any activity that could damage, disable, or impair the platform.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The MCC platform is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. MCC does not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. While we strive for accuracy in our methodologies and verification processes, MCC does not guarantee specific environmental outcomes from any credited project.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MCC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, regardless of the cause of action or the theory of liability.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MCC, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the platform, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
11. Governing Law
These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway. Any disputes arising from or related to these terms or the use of the platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Oslo, Norway.
12. Modifications
MCC reserves the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the revised terms on our website and updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the platform after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
