MCC platform pre-launch milestone

The MCC registry, marketplace and continuous monitoring engine are now operational in demonstration mode. Five pilot projects are issuing serialised credits under draft methodologies; the public verification endpoint at /verify/{serial} is live.

Sentinel-2 continuous monitoring rolled out across all pilot projects

All MCC pilot projects now have continuous Sentinel-2 NDVI baselines via the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem. Monthly snapshots are persisted automatically; reversal-detection thresholds vary by methodology family.

Mekong Delta Mangrove Restoration enters first issuance

The Mekong Delta Mangrove Restoration project completed its first verification cycle in Q1 2026. 1,000 conservation credits were issued (vintage 2025) with 100 held in the buffer pool. The retirement record for the first 100 credits is publicly available.

MCC-010 Kelp Forest to Biochar Pathway open for public consultation

The kelp-forest methodology family is now open for stakeholder consultation. Comments accepted until end of Q2 2026. Aligned with the IPCC 2019 refinement and the UN Decade of Ocean Science kelp ecosystems framework.

MCC contribution-first claims framework published as MCC-800

MCC-800 formally codifies the programme's contribution-first claims framework. Buyers retiring MCC credits cannot make offsetting, neutrality, or net-zero claims; permitted retirement language is enforced at the point of retirement on the registry.

17 projects across 15 countries in active pipeline

Project pipeline now spans Tunisia, India, Mexico, Senegal, Norway, Fiji, Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Tanzania, Belize, Australia, United Kingdom, Chile and Oman. Methodology coverage spans all five MCC families.

Independent expert panel framework opened for nominations

The MCC Independent Expert Panel governance framework is published. Marine scientists, ocean governance experts, and indigenous knowledge holders are invited to express interest in panel membership.

5 October 2025Methodology

MCC-850 AI & Remote Sensing standard published

MCC-850 governs the use of AI and satellite remote sensing in monitoring, MRV and credit-issuance review. AI-assisted screening is permitted for completeness checks; final verification opinions remain a third-party VVB responsibility.
